Carl Pittman

Carl Pittman has been drawn to art and sculpture since high school, where he completed intensive art 1-4, four -year program. Meeting George Peterson in the fall of 2004 has proven paramount to his career. Carl started an apprenticeship that lasted three years where he learned first hand the ins and outs of studio wood-working. Carl is now a full-time studio artist, dividing his time between family, sculpture and turning.

Artist Statement

I believe that everything on earth, including earth, is Divine energy and a specific sequence in which it flows. This “flow” when listened to is a substantial part of my work. I closely use this ever dynamic energy to forge the raw form of my sculpture and bowls. By tuning in to the wood and myself, a collaboration of form and finish occurs. My ability to be present and grounded in well-being is what allows the work to flow through me and not from me.
